About Us
The SASC is a family orientated horse riding club located in the beautiful picturesque Port Stephens. SASC caters for riders of all ages and abilities. Sporting days are held once a month between February and December.
How we do things
There are eight events in the morning (ribbons given for 1st to 5th, points awarded for 1st to 5th for the open competitive groups). After lunch there are three events, which are made up on the day, and place getters receive great prizes. Some of the events we run are bending, flagging, barrels, keyhole, cup race, hopkirk and many more.
Riding Categories
We have a division for everybody.
- Lead Liners
- Under 11 yrs
- 11 yrs to under 15 yrs
- 15 yrs to under 21 yrs
- Open
- Novice
Riding Rules
1. Age group is determined by the age you are on the first day of competition for the year.
2. All junior members if requested must provide a birth certificate for proof of age.
3. The Lead Line group is for young children who need assistance. They do not qualify for points and do not qualify to compete in the afternoon events.
4. A Novice rider is determined by the skill of the rider, and not the skill of the horse.
5. A Novice rider is a rider who is comfortable and in control at a walk and/or trot but has limited experience trotting and/or cantering.
6. The committee reserves the right to upgrade between Novice and the next age group if the rider receives Champion in two consecutive events.
7. In the event of a rider being moved, any points that the rider has earned will not be transferred to the next class.
8. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw any rider from competition if they feel their riding skills are not adequate enough to ensure their safety and the safety of others
9. The timekeepers decision is final and no other times will be looked at.
10. Once a rider ride in a higher class they can not ride in a lower for point score or Ribbons
